A Man Who Shot a Resident in Pou SenChey District Was Arrested

Phnom Penh: On 8 November 2022, a man was arrested by the police after he shot and injured another man with a gun. This incident happened on a road that ran alongside the railroad in Ang village, Sangkat Chom Chao III, Pou SenChey district.

Prior to the incident, the perpetrator was seen leaving a house at 2 in the afternoon after drinking. He drove a car under the influence of alcohol and nearly hit other people. When people questioned his behavior, he suddenly pulled out a pistol and fired two shots on the ground. The perpetrator then fled from the scene.

On the night of the same day, the police arrested the perpetrator and another accomplice of his in a house located in Borey Chhouk Va 2 in Khan Pou SenChey. The police also confiscated a pistol and a Jeep car from the offender.

It should be mentioned that the culprit has previously been arrested in relation to the fatal shooting of his girlfriend in a car in 2020 in Kampong Chhnang province. Later, the residents learned that the offender had been released on bail by the authorities. He was frequently seen drinking at a residence, and while drunk, he often brandished his gun and yelled at the residents, terrifying them.

The perpetrator is presently being detained by the police and awaiting legal procedures.
